The Sri Lankan state has committed war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide against the Tamil people. Since 1948, successive Sri Lankan governments have carried out genocidal wars and various state-sponsored schemes with the intent to destroy the attributes of the Tamil Nation. Sri Lankan state-sponsored subjugation measures against the Tamil people on the island continue today, resulting in the ongoing Tamil Genocide. International accountability is needed to break the entrenched systemic impunity and evasion of justice in Sri Lanka, hold the perpetrators accountable, and achieve remedial justice for the Tamil people.
