NGOs Raise Issue of Destruction of Islamic Heritage and Human Rights Violations by Saudi Arabia at United Nations
On October 11th, 2018, human rights organizations presented their concerns to UN member states regarding Saudi Arabia’s compliance with international human rights law. Al Baqee’s advocacy to member states raised an often overlooked aspect of religious intolerance which infringes not only on the rights of Saudi citizens, but around the world. Saudi Arabia’s past, current, and planned destruction of Islamic heritage sites, and systematic abuse of pilgrims visiting holy sites, will be among the issues addressed by speakers.
