Global logistics industry, guided by FIATA, navigates uncertainty: what does it mean for our regional and global economies?

What is the impact of container transport costs on our regional and global economies? How will lower transport costs affect consumers? What is the future of the maritime market after the dissolution of certain alliances, and will the consolidation and verticalisation of the sector continue? What is the path to maritime decarbonisation and who will bear the cost?

The global transport industry faces ‘unknown waters’ in the aftermath of perturbations caused by the pandemic, Eastern European war, subsequent inflation, food price hikes, energy price volatility and workforce shortages. FIATA unites its global freight forwarding membership representing 40,000 key logistics stakeholders from 17-21 March in Geneva, to dissect the ongoing challenges with a focus on recuperation and navigating difficult waters.

Sustainability in the multimodal transport realm is the current and future hot topic in the sector, and thanks to FIATA’s excellent strategic position in Geneva amongst energy traders and shipping lines, it is perfectly placed to harness green fuel targets in the maritime sector to reach the International Maritime Organisation 2030 decarbonisation goals of a 40% reduction in CO2 emissions.
