Suffering of Al-Ghufran and the National Human Rights Commission of Qatar ignoring
Different represensative of Al-Ghufran tribes will addresse during this seminar the following points:
- Lack of compliance of the Qatari National Human Rights Committee with the Paris Principles governing the independence of national human rights institutions.
- The ineffectiveness of the National Human Rights Committee of Qatar as a national human rights mechanism.
- Qatar’s policies being incompatible to the international effort of combating statelessness.
- Qatar confuses the right to nationality as a legal bond and a privilege to be preferred to who you want.
- Arbitrary dismissal of the nationality or citizenship and its consequences to the individuals such as their impact on the rest of the rights, including the rights to health and education.
- (e.g the issues of clemency, and the student bin Sheraym, and Sheikh Shafi bin Nasser Al-Hajri, a prominent Sheikh of the Hawajer tribe)
- Violation of the rights of children and the arbitrary elimination of their right to nationality through their parents and thus depriving them of their rights to education and treatment.
- Violation of women’s rights and the arbitrary withdrawal of their nationality through their husband’s nationality revocation, in which whole families are deprived of their rights to education and treatment.
