[SAVE THE DATE] Geneva celebrates press freedom and editorial cartooning, with Joseph Stiglitz, Nobel Prize laureate in economics
To mark World Press Freedom Day and the presentation of the 2026 International Cartoon Award, the Freedom Cartoonists Foundation and the City of Geneva invite you to a special event featuring two prominent voices on current affairs in the United States:
- Joseph Stiglitz, 2001 Nobel Prize in Economics. Former Chief Economist at the World Bank, professor at Columbia University
- Kenneth Roth, Visiting Professor, Princeton. Former Executive Director, Human Rights Watch

- Messages by Marie Barbey-Chappuis, Member of the Executive Council of the City of Geneva, and Marie-Laure Salles, Director of the Geneva Graduate Institute.
- Presentation: Marie Heuzé and Patrick Chappatte, Vice Chair and Chair of the Freedom Cartoonists Foundation.
- Speech by Professor Joseph Stiglitz, followed by a discussion with Kenneth Roth on the state of American democracy six months before the midterms. Presentation of the 2026 Kofi Annan Courage in Cartooning Award.
Guest cartoonists from around the world: Gado (Kenya), Jimmy “Spire” Sssentogo (Uganda), Mana Neyestani (Iran), Rachita Taneja (India), Terry Anderson (Ireland), Kak (France), and Swiss editorial cartoonists.
