Iyad Alasttal is an independent Palestinian journalist and filmmaker born in 1987 in Khan Younes. He studied audio-visual media at the University of Corte in Corsica before returning to Gaza in 2013. As a documentary filmmaker whose works have been selected and won awards at festivals in Egypt, France, the UK, Italy, Lebanon, Tunisia and Palestine, he has also worked as a journalist for French and Swiss medias, including RTS, covering the Israeli army’s bombardments of Gaza. Since 2019, he has been leading the multimedia project ‘Gaza Stories’, which documents daily life in the Gaza Strip. The flat where he had taken refuge was bombed in December 2023.
