Taiwan’s participation in WHO and WHA
he world is focused on the future of global public health management. Taiwan, a major contributor to global health, is seeking to participate in WHO and its related technical meetings and mechanisms, as well as the WHA as an observer.
Taiwan has been a force for good in global health governance. During the Covid-19 pandemic, Taiwan provided provided medical supplies to partner countries and engaged in humanitarian relief efforts following natural disasters, including in Haiti and Nepal. Through the International Cooperation and Development Fund (TaiwanICDF) and Taiwanese NGOs, Taiwan has expanded its outreach and supported numerous countries in projects of disaster management and emergency medical relief.
Taiwan has formed an interdisciplinary smart healthcare cluster combining its high-quality healthcare system with technological expertise in areas such as artificial intelligence and information systems. Smart healthcare can also be applied in epidemic-related medical decisions. Taiwan’s healthcare system integrates resources from the public and private sectors, and harvest the power of our digital technology. Taiwan can help, and is eager to share its expertise with the world.
