28 October 2012 parliamentary elections took place in Ukraine. 11 November the Central Election Commission of Ukraine announced the results of voting. The electoral process had an open and competitive nature; voters were able to exercise their will by electing their representatives from a large number of political parties participating in the elections.
This year Ukraine and Switzerland celebrated the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. During this period a complete system of relations has been successfully built out and a significant result in the development of cooperation in all areas of mutual interest has been achieved.
Among the priority issues in bilateral relations for the nearest future will be cooperation within the OSCE Troika (Presidency of Ukraine in 2013, Switzerland – in 2014) and realization of the opportunities of the Free Trade Agreement between Ukraine and EFTA that entered into force 1 June 2012.
