International Geneva is facing a period of turbulence, particularly due to the withdrawal of U.S. development aid funding and budget cuts by Swiss authorities. These drastic reductions are causing serious concern among many NGOs, putting hundreds of jobs and numerous humanitarian activities at risk.
What are the concrete consequences for NGOs, both in terms of their internal organization and their day-to-day operations? How are they rethinking their models in this new context? Which services are being affected first? Is a return to normalcy conceivable? Where can they still find funding or alternative solutions?
After a summer marked by relentless crises, tragedies, and international conflicts, and as humanitarian needs continue to grow , key representatives of Swiss NGOs, including Daniel Suda-Lang, Director of Handicap International, Andreas Missbach, Director of Alliance Sud, and Frédéric Baldini, Head of the Helvetas Geneva Office, Mark Kessler, Head of Operations Cartias Swiss, will assess the impact of these budget cuts on both staffing and operations.
The roundtable will be moderated by Isabelle Falconnier, Director of the Geneva press club, and Luisa Ballin, UN-accredited journalist.
The discussion will be followed by a Q&A session and a aperitif.
