Cuban cultural identity

David Mateo Núñez (Matanzas, 1965) is a journalist, art critic, curator and publisher. He belongs to the criticism section of the Association of plastic artists of UNEAC. He is a member of the National Council of UNEAC. He was director of the Villa Manuela art gallery of the UNEAC. He was co-founder and co-publisher of the manufactured plastic arts magazine Loquevenga. For a certain period of time he was the executive director of the Artecubano, Dédalo, and Arte por Excelencias Cuban magazines. He is currently a member of the Editorial Board of the magazine La Gaceta de Cuba. He was founder and director of Artcrónica, the digital magazine of America and the Caribbean and from this editorial experience, he created in the year 2017 the Artchronic internet portal for the Cuban visual arts. He is the author of the books Incursión en el grabado cubano (Incursion in Cuban Engraving) (1940-1997), Palabras en acecho (Words in Stalking) (compilation of critical texts), Arte Cubano (Cuban Art). He coordinated the 49th Congress of the International Association of Art Critics (AICA) in Havana held in 2016. He recently founded the portal for Cuban visual arts www.artcronica.com
