« The speaker will raise the hypothesis of the existence of a severe secularism in Colombia, as a permanent persecution or even an attitude born out of adversity and aggression towards religion, under which violations of all kinds are raised against the institutions and people who represent or profess a belief. To illustrate this situation, he will present the case of the Church of God Ministry of Jesus Christ International and the Independent Movement of Absolute Renovation, MIRA, which occurred in 2014.

This approach to the existence of a extreme secularism in Colombia, can be developed from three components: The first contextualizes expressions of laicism in Colombia; the second describes the case of the Church and the Political Movement MIRA, as evidence of this trend of aggression towards religion; and finally, a challenge is raised in regards to the subsistence of religion, consisting a practice of a severe secularism in order to overcome it. »
