According to the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), more than 89.3 million people worldwide have been forced to flee their homes. Among them are almost 27.1 million refugees, 41% of whom are under the age of 18. With recent tragedies plunging the planet into mourning, the figures could well rise. Are we becoming more selective in the way we welcome people fleeing their countries, where they risk their lives? On the eve of the World Refugee Forum 2023, co-organized with Switzerland and to be held in Geneva from December 13 to 15, three personalities will discuss this topic at the Swiss Press Club.
Mr. Alexander Widmer, Program Officer and Coordinator of the World Refugee Forum 2023 for Switzerland – Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC)
Mr. Christophe Girod, Director of the Hospice général in Geneva.
Ms Flavia Stea Antonini, Director of Protection and Risk Reduction, Handicap International
Mr. William Spindler, Spokesman for Latin America, UNHCR
Moderated by Isabelle Falconnier, Director of the Swiss Press Club, and Luisa Ballin, UN-accredited journalist.
