Organized by Children’s Right to Healthcare, a Geneva-based NGO, this conference addresses the root causes and possible resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The conflict is rooted in a century of colonial decisions, beginning with the 1917 Balfour Declaration, which promised a “Jewish national home” in Palestine without consulting its Arab majority. The 1947 UN Partition Plan unfairly favored the Jewish minority, and the creation of Israel in 1948 led to the expulsion of 700,000 Palestinians—the Nakba. Since then, international law has been repeatedly ignored, with illegal settlements, military occupation, and the Gaza blockade violating basic principles of equality and self-determination. This conference proposes a bold, inclusive solution: a single, secular, multi-communal federal state with rotating leadership shared by Muslims, Jews, and Christians. Such a model, inspired by other power-sharing systems, would guarantee equal rights, end apartheid structures, and align with international law. Moving beyond the outdated two-state paradigm is essential for a just and lasting peace.
