To fight the unprecedented Ebola outbreak in West Africa, finding a safe and effective treatment is a priority. The University of Oxford, on behalf of the International Severe Acute Respiratory and Emerging Infection Consortium (ISARIC); the French National Institute of Health and Medical Research (INSERM); and the Antwerp Institute of Tropical Medicine (ITM) will lead three separate experimental treatment trials in West Africa. MSF will host these trials in three of its Ebola case management centres, an exceptional measure in the absence of specific treatments for Ebola, which has already claimed around 5,000 lives in this epidemic.
The Principal Investigators of the different trials and MSF will outline plans for these trials.
