The Jean Dumur Award will be presented by Les Amis du Prix Jean Dumur, an association made up of Jean-Philippe Ceppi (RST), Rémy Chételat (Le Quotidien Jurassien), Isabelle Falconnier (Geneva Press Club), Magalie Goumaz (La Liberté), Michel Jeanneret (Blick Suisse romande), Marc-Henri Jobin (CFJM), Frédéric Koller (Le Temps), Anna Lietti (independent), Malika Nedir (independent), François Pilet (Gotham City), Ludovic Rocchi (RTS).
Since 1987, the Prix Jean Dumur has been awarded each year to a journalist demonstrating journalistic courage, the search for truth, independence and clarity of expression. Its ambition and longevity make it the most important journalism prize in French-speaking Switzerland. The jury is made up of experienced journalists and former prizewinners from the Friends of Jean Dumur. In 2023, the prize was awarded to journalist and legal columnist Fati Mansour. The award helps to raise the profile of the profession among the general public.
It is named after Jean Dumur, a leading figure in Swiss journalism, editor-in-chief of La Tribune de Lausanne, head of the Information Department and then Director of Programs at RTS, who died prematurely in Geneva in 1986 at the age of 56.
