During this briefing, Governor Minawi will address the current situation in Sudan, focusing on the prospects for unity and peace, as well as recent developments related to the Darfur region. He will share his perspective on the political and security dynamics affecting the country and outline ongoing efforts toward stability and dialogue.
Born in North Darfur in 1969, Mini Arko Minawi is a political leader and a key figure in Sudan’s peace processes. He participated in the founding of the Sudan Liberation Movement/Army in 2001 and later served as its chairman. In 2006, he signed the Abuja Peace Agreement and subsequently held senior positions within the Sudanese government, including Senior Assistant to the President and Head of the Darfur Regional Authority.
Following the Juba Peace Agreement in 2020, he was appointed Governor of the Darfur Region, a position he currently holds.
