As the World Health Organization (WHO) faces a severe financial crisis, particularly following the announced withdrawal of the United States and Argentina, the management of the hantavirus outbreak and efforts to contain the Ebola epidemic highlight the crucial role of the Geneva-based UN agency. Three experts will discuss at the Geneva press club the challenges, actions, and renewed prominence of the WHO and public health institutions in responding to the Ebola epidemic, which is particularly affecting the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and Uganda.
