Thibaut Bruttin, new Director General of Reporters Without Borders (RSF), introduces himself to Geneva and Switzerland! To mark the International Day against Impunity for Crimes against Journalists, the Geneva press club, and RSF Switzerland invite you to an exclusive meeting with this leading figure in the fight for free, independent and pluralistic journalism worldwide. Protecting journalists in conflict zones, press independence, the right of access to information, the Journalism Trust Initiative: there’s no shortage of battles ahead of him.
Thibaut Bruttin succeeds Christophe Deloire, who died on June 8, 2024, at the helm of RSF for 12 years. Joining RSF in 2014, Thibaut Bruttin, 37, has contributed to the development of key initiatives such as the Journalism Trust Initiative (JTI), the evacuations of Afghan journalists, the press freedom centers in Ukraine, the escape of Marina Ovsyannikova from Russia and the Svoboda satellite bouquet to Russia. Since 2016, he has also taken part in the mobilization in France against businessman Vincent Bolloré’s growing stranglehold on editorial offices.
A graduate in public affairs from the Institut d’études politiques de Paris, Thibaut Bruttin is also a film historian and author of several works on Louis de Funès and Michel Audiard.
Founded in 1985, RSF is now an NGO with headquarters in Paris, seven offices and six international sections, and a network of over 160 correspondents worldwide.
In collaboration with the Human Rights Week.
Meeting followed by an aperitif.
