Five days before the World Humanitarian Summit opens in Istanbul, this is an opportunity to hear what some of the key players think needs to be done to reduce the level of human suffering which is at crisis levels not seen since the Second World War. There are more than 60 million people in the world today driven from their homes by conflict, violence and disasters. Last year there were 27.8 million new displacements in 127 countries including 19.2 million displaced by disasters such as earthquakes, floods and storms. The need for better prevention and better disaster risk management is acute and will be a hot topic of debate at the World Humanitarian Summit.

With the support of the International Geneva Bureau of the State of Geneva, the Geneva Press Club decided to launch a cycle of meetings intended primarily for Swiss and international media as well as for International Geneva. This aims to provide journalists with information and reflection on topics related to news in the context of International Geneva.
