The human rights and humanitarian crisis in Sudan represents one of the most serious challenges currently facing international relief efforts. As the armed conflict continues, the country is at risk of further destabilisation, amid reports of grave violations of international law by the parties involved. This conference will examine recent developments in the conflict, including allegations concerning the possible use of chemical weapons by the Sudanese Armed Forces. The discussion will be preceded by the screening of a five-minute documentary featuring testimonies from victims and witnesses of the alleged use of chemical agents. Two distinguished experts will then provide their perspectives and analysis, including Mr Mark Albon, a member of the leadership team of the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), which was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2013.
