The World Trade Organization is celebrating the 30th anniversary of its founding this year, at a time when decisions by U.S. President Donald Trump regarding new tariffs threaten the global system of free trade. What can be done to strengthen the WTO’s role in ensuring predictable and stable global trade? Can the global trading system survive without the United States, which has effectively stepped back from the WTO despite representing 13% of world exports?

Erwin Bollinger, Ambassador of Switzerland to the WTO and EFTA, Jamil Chade, journalist accredited to the UN and WTO specialist, all experts on this highly topical issue, will discuss these questions at the Geneva Press Club.

The roundtable will be followed by a Q&A session and refreshments.
