« Switzerland blamed for its links with the tobacco industry »

According to the speakers of the press conference, Switzerland is hosting many headquarters of international humanitarian and human rights organizations, as well as the World Health Organization (WHO) whilst refusing to protect its own people from the devastating health, social, environmental and economic consequences of tobacco consumption. They say several measures are available and known to effectively implement such protection, but they are not ratified yet.

Close to 100 health and human rights associations from all over the world are addressing on Wednesday October 3, 2018, a letter to the President of the Swiss Confederation, expressing their concern about Switzerland’s submission to the tobacco industry, at the detriment of its own obligation to protect the health of its citizens, asking Switzerland to take measures to correct this self-defeating situation.
