Launch of New CIOMS International Ethical Guidelines for Health-related Research Involving Humans

Progress towards a world where all can enjoy optimal health and health care is only possible due to various kinds of research, including research involving humans. This research needs to be conducted according to highest possible ethical standards such as the ethical principles set forth in the CIOMS Guidelines. Research practices will always change and new challenges will emerge. Ethical guidelines need to be updated to match the needs of the changing environment in order to offer best possible protection of humans participating in health-related research.

Council for International Organizations of Medical Sciences (CIOMS) addresses new challenges of protecting humans participating in health-related research by issuing new revised guidelines.
