Human Rights in Egypt: The Inconvenient Truth

Human Rights in Egypt: The Inconvenient Truth

Egypt is experiencing the worst human rights violations in its modern history against political dissidents, ‎human rights defenders, journalists, students, lawyers, academics, trade unionists, members of parliament; 60,000 of whom are in prison. The numerous reports by Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International are testimony to the unabated level of abuse.

Experts will assess the current situation in regard to disappearances, torture and verdicts of execution and what steps need to be taken by the UN, governments and the international community.
